Saint Maria’s Messenger magazine is a teaching tool about the Catholic Faith for girls ages ten through teen, and a publication they can rely on to give them wholesome fun and good times. It is dedicated to Saint Maria Goretti, the patroness of girls and purity, which is one of the main goals of the magazine, to help spread the virtues of modesty and chastity.

Saint Maria's Messenger's first issue was sent out in November 2002 to only a couple subscribers, literally only a couple! Bernadette and Rebekah Fox, sisters who live with their large family in Michigan, wanted a Catholic magazine specifically for girls but were never able to find one. They finally decided that the only thing left to do was start one themselves, which they did! They were only 15 and 13 when they began - but with God's help anything is possible!

They wrote 95% percent of the magazine themselves and have even printed it up themselves on their family's printer for five years. For their sixth volume, Little Flowers Family Press located in Canada, printed the magazine. For the seventh volume, and last, Hi-Lites Graphics, a local print shop printed the magazine.

Although the April 2009 issue of Saint Maria's Messenger was the last hard copy of the magazine, this website carries on the Editors' apostolate of giving girls a Faithful and Fun place to go to. Back issues will also be available through the website until they run out.

The mission statement of Saint Maria’s Messenger was seen in each issue as follows:

Saint Maria Goretti, patroness of girls and Saint Maria's Messenger, pray for us!

Who we are: We consider ourselves faithful Catholics, faithful to the Magisterium, faithful to the Pope, Benedict XVI. The magazine is not made to please every single Catholic out there although we hope to reach them all. But we will proclaim that abortion is murder and life is sacred, no matter what others might say. We will proclaim that women were not destined to become priests by God, no matter what others might say. We will proclaim that one religion is not as good as another, no matter what others might say. We will proclaim the Truth with a capital T found in all its fullness and glory in the Holy Catholic Church - the one and only Church founded by Jesus Christ with the Pope as the visible head on Earth!

Our mission: To give girls the teachings of the Church in a way that is captivating and inspiring, in order to help them become more faithful Catholics and to live out their lives as God planned for them. We just want to give girls from ages ten through teen a truly Catholic publication. Not a tiring instructional work or a watered-down look at the Faith, but a nice balance of teaching and fun. Saint Maria's Messenger gives girls a chance to break from school and the chill of winter and sit down and enjoy a good Catholic magazine.
